Community Guidelines

Football Banter is for supporters to share opinions, debate, compete and enjoy football together. Strong opinions, rivalry, humour and football banter are welcome. Abuse is not.

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

Be competitive, not abusive

You can disagree with another supporter, challenge their football opinion and have rivalry. Keep the person behind the opinion in mind, and do not use football banter as a reason to abuse or harm anyone.

What is welcome

• Football opinions, match reactions and spirited debate.
• Rivalry, humour and banter that does not target or harm another person.
• Predictions, competition and friendly challenges.
• Support for your club, players and fellow supporters.
• Original content and media that you have the right to share.

What is not allowed

Do not:

• Harass, bully, threaten or intimidate other people.
• Encourage violence or other unlawful activity.
• Publish unlawful, defamatory or infringing material.
• Post hate speech or target people based on protected characteristics.
• Share another person's private or sensitive information without appropriate permission.
• Impersonate another person, club, organisation or public figure in a misleading way.
• Sexually exploit or endanger children.
• Post or distribute malware, scams or other malicious material.
• Manipulate engagement, rankings, points, predictions or competitions unfairly.
• Attempt to circumvent bans, suspensions or other safety controls.
• Scrape, copy or systematically collect information from the service without permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data.
• Interfere with, disrupt or compromise the operation or security of Football Banter.

Protect privacy and safety

Think carefully before posting personal information. Do not share someone else's private or sensitive information without permission. Do not upload personal information about another person unless you have the right or permission to do so.

Football Banter is intended for people aged 18 and over. If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information, contact support@footballbanter.app.

Keep competitions fair

Predictions, Banter Points, rankings, leaderboards and fan battles are intended for entertainment and community participation. Do not manipulate results, use another person's account, create accounts for someone else, or use automation to gain an unfair advantage.

Report concerns

If you see content or behaviour that may breach these Guidelines or our Terms of Use, use the in-app report, block and mute controls where available. You can also contact Support & Contact.

Include relevant usernames and a clear description when contacting support, but avoid forwarding unnecessary private information. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

How we respond

We may review reports using human moderators, automated systems, or both. Depending on the circumstances, we may remove or restrict content, issue warnings, limit features, remove points or rankings, suspend an account, permanently terminate an account, or take other steps reasonably necessary to protect users and the service.

• Restrict or suspend an account.
• Permanently terminate an account.
• Take other reasonable steps to protect users, the community or the service.

The action we take may depend on the seriousness of the behaviour, its frequency, the user's history and the potential risk to others or the service.

We may take action without prior notice where necessary to protect users, the service or our legal obligations. We do not guarantee that every report will result in content being removed or that every report will be reviewed immediately.
